San Francisco Bay, June 21, 2007.  A two-alarm fire on Treasure Island had San Francisco firefighters operating in the defensive mode. They were assisted by SFFD Fireboat Guardian which saw more than 10 hours of duty pumping up to 17,000 gpm.  Photos by Joe McCormick, fireboat pilot, San Francisco Fire Department.

Above three photos: Boise, Idaho, August 15, 2006.  Boise Fire Department firefighters encounter heavy fire conditions involving the top floor and attic of this 16-unit apartment building.  Observing a huge lume-up while exiting the firehouse, the responding BC immediately requested a second alarm.  A third alarm was requested shortly after arrival.  Photos by Deputy Chief of Operations, George Webb.

Above four photos: Sonora, California, July 11, 2006.  Tuolumne County/California Department of Forestry firefighters arrive on scene to find a fully involved house, fully involved vehicles, and numerous exposure fires spreading into the vegetation.  Fast action and an aggressive assault prevented the fire from extending to other structures and the wildland. The cause of the fire is believed to be a propane tank explosion. The homeowner was critically burned. Response to the fire included six engine companies, three water tenders, two inmate crews, one dozer, one helicopter, two air tankers, and air attack (air coordinator).
