In this course, new and veteran fire investigators will gain state-of-the art knowledge for investigation, enhancing their ability to prepare for the challenges of both criminal and civil investigations and court settings. Participants will discuss the tools and equipment necessary to perform investigations, and how to obtain and document information that will withstand the challenges of the legal system. We recommend that participants bring copies of NFPA 921 (Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations), NFPA 1033 (Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator), and the 8th edition of Kirk’s Book on Fire Investigation.
